The Flame of Devotion

Prahlad, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, refused to worship his father, the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who demanded that all should honour him as a god. In anger, Hiranyakashipu tried many times to have Prahlad killed, but Vishnu’s protection kept him safe. At last, Vishnu appeared as Narasimha, the half-man, half-lion incarnation, and slew Hiranyakashipu at twilight on the threshold, fulfilling the prophecy and saving Prahlad.
